Long-term Care, Support, and Services (LTCSS) Model Receives Update [11/17/11]

A set of competencies for Direct Support Professionals (DSP) has been added to Tier 5 of the Long-term Care, Support, and Services (LTCSS) model. The competencies were
developed by the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP), one of the partners in creating the LTCSS model. Each of the 15 competency areas has corresponding
skill statements that describe the knowledge and skills DSPs need to be successful. Placing the competencies on Tier 5 of the LTCSS model demonstrates how they build on the
industry and foundational competencies outlined in Tiers 1-4.

Automation Competency Model Receives Update [11/04/11]

An updated version of the Automation Competency Model has been released on the Competency Model Clearinghouse.

The Competency Model Clearinghouse features models that document the skills and competencies required in emerging and economically vital industries. In 2008, the Automation Federation and ETA collaborated to develop a competency model to define the automation industry and its skill requirements. Since the model's release, the Automation Competency Model has served as a resource for students, employers, workforce professionals, industry associations, and educators. By helping to define the field and its workforce needs, the model provides a common language for discussion between these groups. It has been used as the foundation for developing occupational level models in the field and has informed the development of automation program curricula.

Reflecting the high-tech, rapidly evolving nature of the field, the model was updated to ensure it includes the knowledge and skills needed by today's automation professionals. The updated model contains new information on Sustainability, as well as updated key behaviors in several competency areas. The model can be viewed on the Competency Model Clearinghouse Web site, http://www.careeronestop.org/CompetencyModel/.
