Time to upgrade your skills? You have several options for programs that last less than two years.

Certificate programs. Many community and technical colleges offer short-term training programs where you can earn a certificate in less than two years. Use CareerOneStop’s Short-Term Training Finder to locate specific programs in your local area.

Other short-term training. Career colleges and other locally operated training schools also offer short-term training. You can search for these opportunities with the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Eligible Training Finder.

Certifications. In certain fields, you can earn a certification by passing an exam. Usually certifications are voluntary, but they may be required by some employers in occupations such as nursing and financial planning. You can find certifications related to your career with CareerOneStop’s Certification Finder.
