Find Military Records
Obtain copies of military papers such as separation or discharge papers (DD Form 214), medical or health records at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).
Obtain Verification of Military Experience and Training (VMET; DD-2586) records at the Department of Defense. Your VMET form, which lists your military job experience and training history, is useful in preparing a resume or filling out college or civilian vocational training applications.

When applying at schools, show them a copy of your transcripts to find out if your military education and training can add credits toward a degree.
Find Civilian Records
